The Shambhala Meditation Center of San Antonio is part of an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and now led by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Our center offers public meditation, a core curriculum of Shambhala Buddhist teachings, as well as training in advanced contemplative practices. We invite you to explore our diverse programs designed to help people of all traditions discover their inherent sanity, gentleness and humor.
For your first visit, we highly recommend attending one of our Open Houses.
Learn to Meditate
"The human mind is by nature joyous, calm, and very clear. In meditation we're letting our mind be as it is to begin with."
Free meditation instruction is available during our Open Houses offered the first Tuesday of every month at 7PM and during meditation times. No pre-arrangements are necessary, just come on by and get to know your mind. Once you have received initial meditation instruction, you can join us during our public meditation times.
Public Meditation Times
Tuesdays 7 - 8 PM
Sundays* 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
*Contains Shambhala Buddhist chants at beginning and end.
